Texting For Best Dressed Competition Takes Off
Last November, Down Royal Racecourse trialed a text vote mechanic to allow the crowds at the races to vote for the jnwine.com Face of Down Royal 2009. Down Royal was the first race course to do this. The finalists were displayed on the big screen between racing and each had a unique text voting number which the public could then text to vote for their favourite.
The idea has obviously caught the eye of the other tracks as the Curragh is using the same mechanic for their Best Dressed Competition running this weekend for the Irish Derby meeting.
With so many people running their lives off their mobiles phones, it makes sense to promote initiatives like this, and ensure that racing keeps up with the times. Now we at Down Royal just have to come up with another even more innovative idea for our superb Best Dressed Competition in November. One thing we don't have to worry about though is the prize - an all inclusive safari for 2 courtesy of Mahlatini!
